There is a real stillness that enters a house when a first baby arrives. The world outside slows right down, and your entire universe shrinks to the size of this tiny, perfect little person. Recently, I spent a lovely morning with a couple in East Dulwich who are navigating those beautiful early days with their new baby boy.

This sweet boy decided he couldn't wait to meet his parents and arrived a few weeks early. But by the time I packed up my camera and knocked on their door for their newborn shoot at home, he was perfectly settled and incredibly peaceful.

Their home was an absolute dream to shoot in - wonderfully light and airy, and full of pockets of soft morning light that make a house feel so calm. As a London newborn photographer who specialises in in-home newborn photography, I don’t bring big studio lights or artificial setups into your space. Instead, we just chase the sun from the master bedroom to the living room, keeping everything completely relaxed and baby-led.

Because this was an authentic baby photoshoot at home, there was zero pressure. Let’s be honest - when you’re first-time parents and your baby arrives a little earlier than planned, those first few weeks can feel like a total whirlwind. That’s why my approach to natural newborn photography is very gentle and completley baby-led . We paused whenever we needed to for feeds, changes, and quiet cuddles. We focused completely on the real, unscripted stuff - the moments that you will want to remember years down the line.
